Our plans will support local farmers. Astwick Green will provide revenue for farmers who supply us with their feedstock, but also produce natural fertiliser for use on local farms. This will reduce reliance on artificial alternatives, which are very expensive and imported from abroad. The natural fertiliser produced at our site will contain a high proportion of organic matter, restoring soil health.
Developing National Energy Security
Anaerobic digestion is an important part of modern farming and an essential tool in combatting volatile gas prices and commercial CO2 shortages.
By building up a domestic supply of biomethane and CO2 through anaerobic digestion, we can decrease our dependence on overseas energy sources. This contributes to the UK’s national energy security, making fuel and CO2 cheaper and more readily available.
